Mizzen is a Mac app made by petersindex. This explains what data the app and this website handle. Questions? hi@petersindex.com.
The app scans locally
When you scan a URL, Mizzen fetches that page and related records from your own Mac. Your scanned URLs and results stay on your device, we never receive or store them. Two requests do leave your Mac, both ordinary web requests:
- To check DMARC and SPF, Mizzen looks up DNS records over DNS-over-HTTPS via Google Public DNS (
dns.google), so the domain you scan is sent to Google's resolver. - To check links, the TLS certificate, headers, and previews, Mizzen makes normal web requests to the site you're scanning.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Stripe, we never see your card details. To deliver your license we receive your email address and send your key via Resend. We keep that email so we can deliver the license and help with support.
Updates
The app checks for updates with Sparkle, fetching an appcast from mizzen.dev (or petersindex.com for older installs). Like any download, that request exposes your IP and app version to our host, Cloudflare.
This website
mizzen.dev is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. We don't set advertising or tracking cookies.
